Berlin 2026

What a fantastic group of students to take away on this year’s History trip to Berlin. Miss Oxley, Mr Henk, Miss Kolodziejczak, and Mr Johnson were absolutely blown away by the level of engagement, curiosity, and maturity shown by our young people throughout the trip.

Students had some incredible opportunities to visit a range of significant historical landmarks, including remaining sections of the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag, the Berlin Olympic Stadium, the Berliner Dom (where students were able to walk around the top of the dome), the TV Tower, and many more. Our days often ended with a well-earned ice cream or some traditional (and very popular!) currywurst.

This year, students were set five challenges to complete during the trip:

  1. Try currywurst
  2. Take a photo of a historical site and learn something about it
  3. Take a photo with a Berlin bear
  4. Take a group photo with ten students from different year groups
  5. Learn an interesting fact about someone in the group

The students took on these challenges in their stride and were determined to be the first group to complete them all. A huge well done to the winning group, who impressed us with some excellent photographs and their dedication to returning for more currywurst at every opportunity (some even chose it over ice cream!).

We also spent a deeply moving and enriching day visiting the Wannsee House and Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. Students handled these visits with absolute respect and maturity, and we received several comments from members of the public praising the group for their exemplary behaviour.

Overall, it was a truly fantastic trip. We hope the students enjoyed the experience and found it as enriching and memorable as it was intended to be for them and we are incredibly proud of how well they represented the school.
