GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Our Aim

Our comprehensive Careers Programme provides a wide range of opportunities for students to encounter the world of work and further/higher education.  The programme revolves around the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks, a Department of Education framework that defines the ‘gold standard’ of careers provision in schools and colleges:

 Gatsby Benchmarks

Provision Overview

At Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 & 9) students explore their own career interests and are introduced to a range of sectors and employers through subject lessons, SAM Time and an online programme called START: U Explore.  Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11) builds on this with students preparing for their next steps on their career journeys by: exploring college through Reigate College and East Surrey College taster days; exploring the workplace through virtual work experience opportunities and apprenticeship presentations; meeting employers through ‘Find Out Fridays’; and developing applications skills, including curriculum vitae preparation and interview technique.  Furthermore, all students receive unbiased, high-quality guidance through 1-2-1 interviews with an independent careers adviser.

Please find our Careers Guidance Policy at the bottom of this page.

Collaboration with employers and training providers

We always welcome the opportunity to meet employers and training providers so our students can learn, first-hand, about the skills that are valued in the workplace.  Our Careers Co-ordinator, Mr B Larkin, would be delighted to hear from any employers and providers wishing to support our programme. Further details can be found in our Policy Statement on Provider Access (see below).
