Topical Talk Festival

Today some of our Year 7 students had the fantastic opportunity to take part in the Topical Talk Festival, an exciting project delivered by The Economist Educational Foundation. This initiative is designed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to engage with the news and form their own opinions on important global issues.

Our students have been engaging in thought-provoking discussions led by their teachers, where they are presented with factually accurate information and balanced arguments. These sessions encourage students to explore different perspectives, develop critical thinking skills, and articulate their own views in a respectful and informed manner.

One of the most enriching aspects of the Topical Talk Festival is the opportunity for students to participate in safe online discussions with young people from different parts of the world. This global interaction allows them to appreciate diverse viewpoints and understand how current events impact different communities. Additionally, students have had the chance to interact with experts on key topics, further broadening their understanding and sparking curiosity about the world around them.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 7 students for their enthusiasm and engagement in this project. The Topical Talk Festival has provided them with an invaluable platform to learn, question, and contribute to important conversations, shaping them into informed and thoughtful global citizens.
