Celebrating our GCSE Results

Glf congratulations exams facebook 1080x1080px destaffordStudents here at de Stafford are celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results, and the school is delighted that the 2024 results saw a significant improvement on key performance measures compared to last year. Particularly strong progress was seen in the proportion of students achieving a strong pass (5+) in both English and Maths. The class of 2024 achieved the school’s highest score on this metric since the introduction of 1-9 grading in 2017.

Head of School, Jeff Place, said: “These outcomes do not happen by accident and are a testament to the dedication and hard work of the students as well as the excellent support and guidance provided by staff and parents.  The fact that most de Stafford students leave us with such positive outcomes reflects the strong academic progress they have made in their time here. However, this year group contributed so much to the school community and we are just as proud of the way in which they have developed into highly aspirational and confident young adults, comfortable of their place in society and the positive contribution they can make to it.”

The percentage of top grades awarded to de Stafford students continues to be a strength of the school. Georgia Matthews achieved a full suite of grade 8s and 9 s in all eleven of her GCSEs, including six grade 9s (awarded to only a very small percentage of students nationally in each subject area). Emily Lamberth, Jessica Murtagh, and Ciara Reed also achieved grades 7-9 across eight or more subjects while many other students achieved a high proportion of these top grades.

Whilst rightly celebrating the fantastic achievements of the high attainers, the school was delighted with the progress made by students from their different academic starting points.  Several students achieved grades well above what is expected of them based on their key stage 2 scores, with Finley Legg, Sophie Wren, Michael Furley, and Rosie Skeet in particular making excellent academic progress.

We wish all the students the very best in their next stage of their journey.
