Land Sale
Land Sale Project:
I am delighted to update you that following last night’s Tandridge District Council planning committee meeting approval has finally been given for us to go ahead and significantly upgrade our sporting facilities on the school site.
By way of an update for parents/carers, we have sold a piece of land which comprises the former caretaker’s bungalow and small section of land running adjacent to Burntwood Lane. The proposal involves the demolition of the existing bungalow and erection of 8 residential dwellings, including 3 designated as affordable housing. The DfE approved the sale on the condition that the proceeds are ring fenced to fund the development of a state-of-the-art all-weather floodlit sports pitch (3G), resurfacing the tennis courts, and the erection of new fencing around them, as well as extending the existing car park.
Thank you to the large number of you who confirmed your endorsement of the project via the planning portal for our application. In recommending approval, the Planning Officer noted the overwhelmingly positive comments from the school and local community for this proposal. Providing opportunities for so many people from school and the wider community to experience a range of activities on a high-quality surface will lead to an undoubted spike in interest and engagement in sport and recreation, the benefits of which are beyond measure as we continue to deal with the effects of a devastating pandemic and, as a society, grapple with issues related to physical and mental well-being.
We will keep you updated regarding the build timeline but hope to have made significant progress towards completing the pitch by September 23. This is excellent news for the school and local community and comes on the back of recent confirmation that the school has been prioritised to receive a grant from the DfE under the School Rebuilding Programme to make much needed improvements to our science block.
