Model United Nations December 2023

On Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th December during the last week of term, a group of 15 students attended the Model United Nations Conference in Whitechapel, hosted by Global Classrooms. This is a group of students that meet weekly, are passionate, motivated and committed to be able to debate complex global issues.

The key theme of the conference was the global water crisis, and committees sought to find solutions to a plethora of issues including access to water, the right of access to water, water management and purification and the ownership of large water sources. Our students were outstanding and participated full heartedly. At the end of the second day all delegates from the participating schools met for an awards ceremony where selected students were recognised individually for their work within their specific committees. Two of our students were recognised with Kiara K receiving an award for ‘Best Position Paper’ where she represented Gabon in the Security Council and Eden G for being a ‘Distinguished Delegate’ where he represented France in one of the UN Women’s councils. We would like to congratulate all students that took part and let them know it was an absolute pleasure for Mrs Joao, Mr Henk and Miss Sinfield to be able to have escorted them on the trip and watch them in action.
