Year 7 enjoyed a wonderful day out in London, visiting two significant places of worship: the West London Synagogue and St Paul’s Cathedral. At the synagogue, students saw the Torah scroll, the menorah, and asked questions about the ancient Hebrew writing on the walls. At St Paul’s, they sat in the choir stalls, marvelled at the beautiful mosaic ceilings, lit candles to remember loved ones, and ventured up to walk around the dome. It was a fantastic cultural day enjoyed by all!

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the Year 4 students from @hillcroftprimaryschool yesterday for an exciting Science workshop! 💡 The pupils enthusiastically explored Human Circuits, investigating components and building circuits to deepen their understanding of electricity. They also experimented with a variety of materials to determine whether they were conductors or insulators. A fantastic afternoon of hands-on learning and scientific discovery!

It was fantastic to welcome some of our Student Voice representatives into the canteen for a special taste-testing session! 🍽️ They sampled a range of dishes and gave honest, constructive feedback on what foods they enjoy — and what could be improved. Their input is invaluable in helping shape a canteen menu that reflects their tastes and needs. More importantly, it's brilliant to see students actively involved in decisions that impact their daily school life. 👏 #StudentVoicesMatter #destaffordschool #Elior

Maggie M (Year 7) was awarded a Silver award and ‘Best in Year’, while Edward C, Elina L, James P and Callum W received Gold awards with Callum not only gaining ‘Best in School’ but also has been invited to participate within the Junior Kangaroo Competition which will take place later this month. Our talented Year 8 student, William H, recently took part in the Reigate and Redhill Music Festival, where he performed in a variety of classes and was awarded Outstanding for many of his performances. A special highlight was his rendition of Your Song by Elton John, which earned him the Junior Bach Cup. Following their impressive performance in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, Lenny F and Amelia S-O were invited to take part in the prestigious Grey Kangaroo follow-on round. Both students accepted the challenge and sat the one-hour paper at the end of March, tackling 25 demanding multiple-choice problem-solving questions. We were delighted to celebrate their achievements this week with a small gathering hosted by Mr Place, Mrs Dowdie, and Mrs Joao, complete with drinks and doughnuts. During the celebration, both students were presented with certificates to mark their accomplishments - Amelia for qualification, and Lenny F, who earned a Bronze Award and was recognised as ‘Best in School’. A huge congratulations to both students on this outstanding achievement - we are incredibly proud of their dedication and success!
