CYP with language difficulties often struggle to create narratives. We are so proud of our Year 7 group creating great stories using their narrative planners and picture cues. Thanks to Surrey Speech & Language Therapy for supporting us in our centre! #SLCN #DLD #dayinthelife

This week we had the privilege of hosting the Sports Hall Athletics event here at de Stafford, in collaboration with Active Surrey. Our Year 10 Sports Leaders played a crucial role in ensuring the event ran smoothly, and their dedication did not go unnoticed. The visiting staff were highly impressed with their forward-thinking approach, professionalism, and willingness to help. Our leaders took on key responsibilities, including scoring, running events, and tallying results, demonstrating excellent organisational skills and leadership qualities. This event was a fantastic opportunity to bring together local primary and secondary schools, with our Year 7 students proudly representing de Stafford. The competition saw outstanding performances across the board, showcasing the incredible talent within our school. A huge well done to everyone involved for displaying resilience, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the event. It was truly inspiring to see such enthusiasm and commitment, and we are incredibly proud of all who participated and contributed to its success! 👏 #proud #teamdestafford #ActiveSurrey #activesurrey

On Friday 14th February, we were delighted to welcome Nick Triggle, a respected health correspondent for the BBC, as our guest speaker for our Find Out Friday Event. Nick shared fascinating insights into his role as a journalist, where he writes for the BBC website, contributes to radio broadcasts, and frequently appears on TV and radio. He spoke about the importance of communication and research in his work, as well as the challenges of meeting tight deadlines while ensuring that all reporting is accurate and fair. Students had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the fast-paced world of journalism and the responsibilities that come with reporting on critical issues. It was an informative session, offering valuable lessons for anyone interested in media, writing, or current affairs. We extend our thanks to Nick for taking the time to visit and share his experiences!

On Wednesday, 29th January, our top Year 9 and 10 mathematicians took on the UK Maths Trust Intermediate Maths Challenge, tackling 25 tricky multiple-choice problems in just one hour! 🧩 Out of 120 students who sat the paper, 26 earned prestigious Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificates—a fantastic achievement given the tough scoring system and national competition levels: 🥉 Bronze: 37+ marks 🥈 Silver: 52+ marks 🥇 Gold: 72+ marks With only 25% of UK entrants achieving Bronze, 16-17% Silver, and just 8-9% securing Gold, our students’ success is something to be truly proud of! 👏 We celebrated their hard work with a special breakfast and certificate presentation led by Mr. Place. Well done to all our brilliant mathematicians—you’ve made us incredibly proud! 💙

On Friday, our Year 9 students had the privilege of hearing from Gerry Hahlo, the son of a Holocaust survivor, representing the charity Generation 2 Generation, as part of our Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations. Gerry shared his powerful story, emphasizing the life-saving impact of the Kindertransport, which rescued thousands of children by providing them refuge in other countries during a time of unimaginable hardship. He also reinforced Ms. Hillsdon's message from her assemblies: the importance of accepting and welcoming refugees. A truly moving and inspiring reminder of the lessons we must carry forward. #HolocaustMemorialDay #inspiration
