GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Whilst our students enjoy a well-deserved rest today, our staff are hard at work taking part in vital training. A huge thank you to the Guildford Shakespeare Company @guildfordshakespeare for performing Macbeth to our Year 10 cohort last week. This was a valuable opportunity to see the play performed live to better understand the themes and plot. The students thoroughly enjoyed it! 🎭

Our Year 8 cohort were lucky enough to enjoy a brilliant presentation from Tom Perks of EasyJet, who opened up their eyes to the many exciting careers within aviation and the travel industry. From engineering and piloting to customer service and logistics, students discovered just how many pathways this sector has to offer. It’s always a privilege to welcome industry professionals into school, especially at such a formative stage of our students’ journeys. ✈️✨

Recently, a powerful hurricane struck Jamaica, causing significant damage and deeply affecting many families and communities. Today, our school came together to support the relief efforts by hosting a doughnut sale and Just Dance fundraiser. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross to help provide essential aid and support families as they rebuild their homes and lives.

Year 10 and 11 music students enjoyed a performance of a variety of pieces played by the Scots Guard Army band. It was incredible to hear these talented musicians play a variety of different styles of music, from Wicked to Vaughn Williams folk suite, Handel to Star Wars. We learnt about each piece on the way and had a great time enjoying live music. Thanks to George Abbott school for hosting! 🎶

On Sunday 9th November the wreath laying ceremony on Remembrance Sunday took place at the RAF Kenley Tribute on our local historic and famous fighter airfield. Head Boy, Wyatt T and Senior Prefect, Veenaa K attended to lay a wreath on behalf of the school community. RAF Kenley played a particularly important role in the Battle of Britain. It was led by Councillor Mike Crane, Chairman of Tandridge District Council. Other representatives include the Deputy Mayor of Croydon, The Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP, Metropolitan Police, KENDRA, Kenley Airfield Friends Group, RAFA, The RAF Kenley Tribute Committee, Local Councillors, 450 Kenley Squadron Air Cadets and 615 VGS Glider Squadron. #remembrance #WeWillRememberThem
